11/16/08 Roxbury Co# 3 Extrication Drill : Firefighter One LLC was on hand to do a training seminar with Roxbury Twp Berkshire Valley Co# 3. Jonathon VanNorman and Todd Rudloff discussed and demonstrated in depth the Powerhawk battery operated extrication system, Autocrib cribbing system, and airbag lifting system the company has on their rescue truck. Several members were on hand as well as Chief Dave Ward for a very informative and fun learning session.

10/23/08 F.I.T.-5 Drill : Roseland Fire Dept hosted a FIT-5 demo with live burn demonstration at Livingston Fire Dept's Circle Station. Fairfield, Millburn, Montclair, West Caldwell, Caldwell, North Caldwell, Verona, East Hanover, Orange, Livingston, and Roseland FD's attended the demonstration.

11/6/08 Denville F.I.T.-5 Presentation : Denville American Legion Post 390 as well as Firefighter One LLC was on hand to present the Denville Fire Department with 3 F.I.T.-5 devices as well as training on the deployment of the device. The Legion donated all 3 devices to the town for use and was represented by Post Commander Bob Swenson, Past Commander Dan Daly, Senior Vice Commander Mark Hatfield, 1st Adjutant Tony Ramirez, and Finance Officer Jim Vialard.

8/25/08 F.I.T.-5 Presentation : BLOOMINGDALE, NJ – Top city officials from Bloomingdale, Butler and Kinnelon volunteer fire departments along with Firefighter One LLC gathered on August 25, at the Bloomingdale Fire Department where The Butler Rotary Club presented their donation of FIT-5s to each department. ARA Safety’s FIT-5 is a handheld fire suppression device that is being recognized by communities as a valuable supplementary tool helping career and volunteer firefighters across North America save lives and dramatically reduce property loss. During the event, Firefighter One’s Owner, Jonathon Van Norman walked the group through a presentation of the device and how it can be used by each fire department. “Our communities have a long tradition of working together to keep our citizens safe,” said Mike Wanklan, Passaic County Deputy Fire Coordinator. “When fighting fires, a few minutes can mean the difference between life and death. I believe the FIT-5 will help first responders on the scene of a fire buy time until our full crew arrives, giving us a better chance to save lives and property.” The Mayors from Bloomingdale, Kinnelon, and Butler were in attendance, joined by Fire Chiefs and Rotary Club members from each respective city. Charlie Ebers, President of The Butler Rotary Club, made the decision to purchase three FIT-5s for his local fire departments after hearing the tool was successfully used to contain a basement fire in West Milford, New Jersey. “I was immediately interested in equipping our community departments with the FIT-5 after I heard how well it worked in West Milford. The device will enhance our current fire fighting tactics, giving our departments a new way to approach fire fighting and ultimately help keep our citizens safe.” The West Milford fire was the third deployment over the last seven months in the New York / New Jersey region. In December 2007, the FIT-5 was credited with saving buildings and lives following a third floor house fire in Port Jervis, New York; in April 2008, the FIT-5 helped contain the West Milford basement fire; and in July, 2008, the device was credited with helping to extinguish another basement fire in Shelter Island, New York. Michael Gardiner, director of marketing for ARA Safety, said, “With the additions of Bloomingdale, Butler and Kinnelon, 37 fire departments on the East Coast are now fully equipped to use the FIT-5. 10/4/09 Picatinny Tanker Drill : Picatinny Arsennal hosted a mutual aid tanker drill on Sunday Oct 4, 2009. This was a great chance for several mutual aid departments that don't normally work together to lay some hose, flow some water, and swap some stories. It gave several non-mutual aid companies to the base a chance to see some of the operations and apparatus in action as well. A draft was established at the boat docks of Lake Picatinny by Picatinny E-15 and Mt. Arlington E-5. A dump site was established approximately 2 miles away at the opposite end of the lake at the old "Power House" with Wharton Truck 321 and Rockaway Boro Truck 413 master streams in operation. Four large portable ponds were laid out with Jefferson Co#2 E-718 and Dover E-9 as the "hole" pumpers. A steady stream of tankers from Milton Co.#1, Boonton Twp, Jefferson Co.#2, Mine Hill, Green Pond, Mt. Arlington, Budd Lake, Picatinny, Marcella Co.#3, and Hibernia Co.#1 kept the site filled with plenty of water at all times. Towards the end of the drill visiting Chiefs and officers had the chance to tour the base's new fire headquarters and enjoyed a great BBQ by Jefferson Co.#2. Special thanks to Department Chief Guidetti and Asst Chief Brown as well as Director Karlsson for the unique opportunity to document the events of the day.
