Picatinny Arsennal hosted a mutual aid tanker drill on Sunday Oct 4, 2009. This was a great chance for several mutual aid departments that don't normally work together to lay some hose, flow some water, and swap some stories. It gave several non-mutual aid companies to the base a chance to see some of the operations and apparatus in action as well. A draft was established at the boat docks of Lake Picatinny by Picatinny E-15 and Mt. Arlington E-5. A dump site was established approximately 2 miles away at the opposite end of the lake at the old "Power House" with Wharton Truck 321 and Rockaway Boro Truck 413 master streams in operation. Four large portable ponds were laid out with Jefferson Co#2 E-718 and Dover E-9 as the "hole" pumpers. A steady stream of tankers from Milton Co.#1, Boonton Twp, Jefferson Co.#2, Mine Hill, Green Pond, Mt. Arlington, Budd Lake, Picatinny, Marcella Co.#3, and Hibernia Co.#1 kept the site filled with plenty of water at all times. Towards the end of the drill visiting Chiefs and officers had the chance to tour the base's new fire headquarters and enjoyed a great BBQ by Jefferson Co.#2. Special thanks to Department Chief Guidetti and Asst Chief Brown as well as Director Karlsson for the unique opportunity to document the events of the day.
